Gachagua Thanks Ol Kalou Voters After DCP's Historic By-Election Win
Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua is today leading a thanksgiving tour across Ol Kalou Constituency following his party's victory in the parliamentary by-election.
The tour comes a day after DCP candidate Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru was declared the winner with 35,440 votes, defeating UDA's Samuel Muchina Nyaga, who garnered 5,450 votes. The win marks DCP's first-ever seat in the National Assembly.
Accompanied by Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia and other party leaders, Gachagua is expected to visit several centres across the constituency, including Ndundori Gwa Kiongo, Ngorika, Tumaini, Ol Kalou Town and Miharati.
Speaking after the victory, Gachagua thanked Ol Kalou residents for backing the party, describing the outcome as a historic milestone for DCP.
The closely contested by-election, triggered by the death of former MP David Kiaraho, recorded a 57 per cent voter turnout but was marred by violence and allegations of voter bribery during the campaign period.
