Agnes Jebet Ngetich Shines as Faith Kipyegon Drops Out at Sirikwa Classic
Kenya’s Agnes Jebet Ngetich delivered a dominant performance at the 2025 Sirikwa Cross Country Classic, winning the 10-kilometre race in an impressive 32 minutes and 42 seconds. However, the race also brought an unexpected turn as triple Olympic gold medallist Faith Kipyegon did not finish (DNF), dropping out just before the finish line.
This marked Kipyegon’s first competitive appearance since her 1500m victory at Athlos NYC in September 2024. Known for her prowess on the track, Kipyegon’s participation in the longer-distance cross-country race had drawn significant attention. While her withdrawal remains unexplained, Ngetich seized the moment, showcasing her endurance and cementing her status as a rising star in Kenyan distance running.
