Gachagua Alleges Plot to Arrest Him Amid Political Tensions
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claims President Ruto’s allies are plotting his arrest for opposing Chief Justice Martha Koome’s removal. He remains defiant, daring authorities to take him in while mocking the threats. Gachagua also vowed to challenge Ruto politically, promising to expose his failures by 2026.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto’s administration of using state agencies to settle political scores. Speaking at the launch of Martha Karua’s Peoples Liberation Party (PLP), Gachagua claimed that his recent warnings against removing Chief Justice Martha Koome had put him in the governments crosshairs.
While addressing a crowd in Meru County, Gachagua alleged that Rutos team was orchestrating Koome’s removal for resisting political pressure. He further claimed that Ruto’s aides were plotting his arrest in retaliation for his defiance. However, he remained defiant, declaring that he was ready to face any consequences in his fight for justice.
Mocking the alleged threats, Gachagua dared authorities to arrest him, joking that he would be waiting at home with tea prepared. “Jails are for men, and the cells even have toilets now,” he quipped, signaling his readiness to face any intimidation tactics.
The former DP also hinted at his political comeback, vowing to dismantle Ruto’s leadership by 2026. He asserted that once his campaign kicks off, the public would no longer believe in Ruto’s promises. Gachagua made these remarks alongside other opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Mukhisa Kituyi, during Karua’s party rebranding event.
