Kenyans should brace for wetter days ahead as the Kenya Meteorological Department has projected increased rainfall across many parts of the country from April 15 to 21, 2025. The latest weather update warns of isolated heavy downpours, especially in the Highlands both east and west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Southeastern lowlands, and parts of Northeastern Kenya.

According to the Met Department, daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected along the Coast, Northeastern, and Northwestern regions. Conversely, some highland areas—particularly those east of the Rift Valley and around Mt. Kilimanjaro—will experience chilly nights, with temperatures dipping below 10°C.

Regions like Nandi, Kakamega, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Trans-Nzoia will see morning rains followed by sunny breaks, with afternoon thunderstorms and night showers likely. Northwestern counties including Turkana and Samburu will also receive rain throughout the day.

Nairobi and surrounding counties may wake up to cloudy skies and light showers before sunny intervals, while afternoon and night rains remain a possibility. Coastal areas such as Mombasa, Lamu, and Kilifi should expect consistent showers throughout the day and night.
