IGAD Denies Its Support for Ruto in Hosting Sudanese Rebels.
The African Unions (AU) regional economic community, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), has denied allegations in a letter that it supported President William Ruto's hosting of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a Sudanese rebel group.
In a statement issued on Thursday, February 20, IGAD indicated that it has not released any statements on the subject and marked the letter as "FAKE."
Part of the statement said, "The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) wishes to clarify that it has not issued any official press release concerning the ongoing Ramadan peace process."
"Any claims made by IGAD regarding this issue should be confirmed via our official channels of communication."
For accurate information, the AU body advised the public and media to rely on IGADs verified platforms.

According to the flagged letter, IGAD praised President William Ruto for his fearless and steadfast dedication to regional peace and stability.
It further stated that as part of the Ramadan Peace Process, Rutos recent interaction with the RSF represents an important first step in the diplomatic process meant to promote communication and defuse tensions.
Part of the flagged letter stated, "President Rutos leadership continues to exemplify the spirit of reconciliation and inclusive diplomacy, and Kenya has historically played a vital role as a diplomatic big brother in the Horn of Africa."
"IGAD reaffirms its support for Kenyas efforts to secure a lasting resolution to the crisis by bringing all parties to the table."
The letter also urged all parties involved to commit to an inclusive peace process that will bring stability and prosperity to the area, embrace dialogue, and exercise restraint.
The flagged letter states that IGAD is prepared to assist Kenya in its diplomatic endeavors to achieve enduring peace.
