KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu appealed to the petitioners, emphasizing that resolving the matter outside the courtroom would ensure that students from underprivileged backgrounds can access education.

"Those involved should reconsider their stance and allow bursary disbursement to resume so that learners in Samburu County can continue their studies," Oyuu stated.

He further stressed that Samburu is a region with high financial need, and blocking bursaries would severely disadvantage many students who rely on the funds.

"It is unfair and inhumane to deny bursaries to learners in a needy county like Samburu just because of a court case. What issue cannot be resolved amicably to ensure our children go to school?" he questioned.

KNUT Urges Government to Enhance Security in Samburu

In addition, KNUT called on the government to strengthen security in Samburu to safeguard both teachers and students.

Oyuu expressed concern over the rising insecurity in the region, stating that frequent attacks have instilled fear among educators and learners.

"Insecurity is a major issue in Samburu, affecting everyone, including teachers and students. Recently, two people lost their lives, and 10 others were injured in a bandit attack," he noted.

"We urge the government to step up security efforts in areas like Samburu to protect lives and ensure a conducive learning environment."

KNUT Demands TSC to Reassign Teachers to Samburu

Oyuu also urged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to transfer 41 teachers from Marsabit back to Samburu.

He explained that the affected teachers were relocated to Marsabit during the delocalization policy but had not been reassigned to their home county even after the policy was revoked.

"Several teachers were transferred to Marsabit under the delocalization program, yet they have not been returned. The fact that 41 teachers remain in Marsabit raises many questions. They should be reassigned to Samburu immediately," he insisted.
