Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has vowed not to betray Kenyans as he prepares to reclaim his position as ODM party leader. Speaking ahead of the ODM at 20 convention in Busia County, Raila emphasized that his political decisions will be guided by the interests of the people. His much-anticipated announcement on Friday is expected to clarify whether he will formalize a political alliance with President William Ruto.

Raila acknowledged the weight of his decision, stating that he has extensively consulted with his supporters. According to him, Kenyans have given him a "blank cheque," showing unwavering support for whatever path he chooses. His remarks signal a firm commitment to making decisions that align with the aspirations of his followers.

Meanwhile, Raila expressed concerns about the efficiency of the newly introduced Social Health Authority (SHA). While acknowledging that the system works well in other countries, he noted that its implementation in Kenya has been flawed. He called for better execution to ensure it becomes a game-changer for the nation’s healthcare sector.

As preparations for the Busia event reached the final stages, reports emerged that ODM’s Central Management Committee has agreed to reinstate Raila as party leader. Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o has been serving as the acting party leader since Raila embarked on his bid for the African Union Commission Chairmanship.
