Vicky Brilliance Opens Up About Troubled Marriage with Baba Boys
Renowned singer Vicky Brilliance has shocked fans with a heartbreaking revelation about her troubled marriage to Baba Boys, exposing betrayal, abuse, and the struggles she endured behind the scenes.
Renowned singer Vicky Brilliance, famous for her hit songs Wababa and Omisenin, recently shocked her fans by revealing the struggles in her failing marriage to Silas Kiplangat, popularly known as Baba Boys. In a candid social media post, she admitted to enduring hardships she had kept hidden for the sake of her two children and music career.
"A week ago, she broke her silence, calling it ‘baring the truth’ about the turmoil in her marriage. According to Brilliance, her husband turned physically abusive whenever he was intoxicated, sometimes assaulting her in front of her fans. She also alleged that a close advisor convinced Kiplangat to force her out of their home just after she had completed building their mansion.
“I have been living in misery. My husband attacks me when he drinks, often in the presence of my supporters. Sadly, he was influenced by someone who urged him to kick me out after I finished constructing our house,” she wrote.
The 24-year-old singer, originally from Mengit village in Bomet County, addressed critics who accused her of letting fame cloud her judgment. She disclosed that the entire KSh 1.8 million she won at the Kalenjin Music Festival Awards had been handed over to Kiplangat to build their family home. Despite her sacrifices, she claimed her marriage became toxic, with his jealousy escalating into violence—not just against her but also against their four-year-old son.
“I have fought to survive. Music is the only thing that has kept us going,” she added.
However, Kiplangat firmly denied these allegations. Speaking in a TikTok live interview, he refuted claims of domestic violence and instead pointed to Brilliance’s latest music video, Omisenin, as the root of their marital conflict.
The song, in which Brilliance reminisces about an unforgettable love and the pain of moving on, featured her ex-boyfriend, DJ Wesso—a renowned Kalenjin music producer—as the lead actor. Kiplangat admitted that seeing his wife collaborate with her former lover hurt him deeply.
“I was upset when I saw my wife shooting a video with her ex. I warned her that such actions could tarnish her reputation,” he stated.
Kiplangat further alleged that Brilliance’s association with her ex had been a recurring issue in their marriage. He claimed that tensions escalated after he found DJ Wesso’s contact saved on her phone. Nonetheless, he strongly denied ever threatening her with a knife or any other weapon.
“If I had ever brandished a knife at her, there would be evidence—injuries or reports from the past. These accusations are baseless. She left our home on her own accord, long before this issue with the video surfaced. I never chased her away,” he insisted.
Despite the upheaval, Kiplangat maintained that he had always loved Brilliance, even embracing her son from a previous relationship.
“I fell in love with her even more because she was a single mother. That didn’t change my feelings for her,” he said.
However, he acknowledged that seeing her reconnect professionally with her ex was difficult to accept.
"Any man would be hurt by such a situation," he admitted.
